Dear colleagues,
While the Ingham Institute is primarily a research facility, our unique and important partnership with the South Western Sydney Local Health District (SWSLHD) means that our involvement with SWSLHD staff and patients go well beyond this. Examples includes the administrative space we provide for many senior clinical staff, and the involvement in critical patient treatments through clinical trials. In the case of further restriction, which could be as broad as a Government lockdown, we must carefully consider not just research, but also our support of patients and the SWSLHD staff. On this basis we will continue to keep the Ingham Institute open and operating as an essential service. Ever evolving plans are in place and have been actioned to date which in most cases have kept ahead of Government guidelines and worked well.
Our plans below are based on two scenarios, 1. Increasingly restricted movement, and 2. A Government mandated lock down. We know, however, that it is very difficult to predict the degree of change and guidelines that will be given. As the guidance comes, we will make decisions and refine whichever plan is most suitable to ensure an optimal approach for all our stakeholders.
